Link activities to various related records

Introducing a new feature that allows users to connect activity records like emails, appointments, tasks, and calls to multiple related party records such as accounts, contacts, leads, and opportunities. This marks a departure from the past when it wasn’t possible to link an activity record with more than one related party. Now, users can easily link an email or meeting to various cases or opportunities, streamlining communication and project tracking within their workflow.

The public preview will initially support emails only.

The recent enhancement expands user capabilities, allowing for a broader scope of engagement. Users can now connect an activity with multiple related parties, fostering more comprehensive engagement. This functionality facilitates a more expansive approach to project engagement, enriching the collaboration experience.

The introduction of this new feature doesn’t signify a replacement for the ‘regarding’ field, which serves as the connection between the record and the email record. A new field named ‘related’ has been introduced, operating independently from the ‘regarding’ field. Importantly, this ‘related‘ field is not automatically incorporated into the form; it requires manual addition. The functionality of the new field is demonstrated in the image below.

Fascinatingly, this feature also enables the record to be linked to the timeline. The association created by the ‘related’ field means that these emails will appear on the timelines of the associated records, providing a comprehensive view of all related activities.

To allow your custom entity to be associated with emails, you must activate the ‘can be a contact email‘ option within the entity’s metadata properties.
